WWE Secretly Cancels Draft Plans Amid NXT Title Changes and Backstage Shake-Up
WWE reportedly scrapped a planned internal draft at the last minute — just as major title changes rocked NXT. While no formal announcement was made, the shake-up behind the scenes suggests WWE is playing its usual game of roster chess — quietly.
According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live, WWE had been considering holding a draft the same weekend it hosted a four-show loop in Tampa — a stone’s throw from the NXT Performance Center in Orlando.
“A month ago, I was told there was a decent chance there’d be a draft this past weekend during those four Tampa shows. It didn’t happen, but they moved a lot of people around,” Alvarez said.
Though the draft didn’t materialize, the changes certainly did:
Ricky Saints dropped the North American Championship to Ethan Page.
Stephanie Vaquer shockingly lost her Women’s Title to Jacy Jayne after outside interference.
Jordynne Grace remained absent, though her recent push hints at an upcoming brand shift.
These events point toward an unofficial reshuffling of the WWE talent pool — with main roster call-ups likely incoming, especially for highly paid NXT stars.
While WWE remains silent about its future draft plans, fans and insiders believe this is part of a larger roster overhaul that’s happening away from the spotlight.
