WWE Evolution 2 Announcement Leaves Talent Frustrated and Fans Concerned
WWE has officially announced Evolution 2 for July 13, 2025, live from Atlanta, Georgia, promising a celebration of women’s wrestling. However, behind the scenes, the response from WWE talent has been anything but enthusiastic.

According to Fightful Select, most members of the WWE women’s roster were caught off guard by the announcement, learning about it alongside the general public. “Almost every member of the WWE women’s roster told us that they officially learned of the show when it was announced publicly,” the report states.
While a few top names and at least one WWE legend received advance notice—and one might even be booked—others expressed frustration at the lack of communication. Some wrestlers saw this as another sign of the women’s division being treated differently, pointing to the original Evolution event’s emotional curtain call moment in 2018—something they believe the men’s roster would never be asked to do.
Concerns are also rising that Evolution 2 could be set up to fail. Internally, some talent fear that if the show underperforms—especially given the same-day Beyoncé concert in the city—WWE might use that as an excuse to abandon the event in the future. High hotel prices and expected traffic issues were also mentioned as potential scapegoats.
One top WWE star questioned whether Evolution 2 was necessary at all, citing the already-packed PLE calendar. Meanwhile, a respected veteran viewed the event as a chance to spotlight underused talent and integrate legends in meaningful ways—but emphasized that WWE would need to fully back the show for it to succeed.
Despite the mixed reactions, WWE is reportedly going all-in on Evolution 2. WrestleVotes reports that WWE plans to stack the card with seven to eight matches, including a battle royal and potential crossovers from TNA and AAA thanks to existing partnerships.
While Evolution 2 should be a win for women’s wrestling, the current backstage mood seems more cautious than celebratory. Fans will have to wait and see if WWE delivers an event worthy of its legacy.
