CM Punk Blasts Seth Rollins & Drew McIntyre Ahead of SummerSlam Showdown
CM Punk is never one to hold back, and just hours before one of the biggest matches of his WWE return, he’s made sure to stir the pot. During the SummerSlam 2025 Kickoff Show, Punk didn’t just hype his upcoming bout — he fired some scathing verbal shots at former rivals Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, labeling their past behavior as “crying piss baby whining.”
The Second City Saint is scheduled to face GUNTHER in what many are calling a dream match, and Punk is clearly approaching it with a no-nonsense mindset. For once, it’s not about personal grudges — and Punk made that very clear.
“For the first time, I’m staring across the ring from a competitor and it’s not personal — it’s strictly business,” Punk said on the pre-show panel.
“It’s not some crying little piss baby whining about something that happened when they were 16, or mad that I moved their shoes in the locker room back in 2009, or whatever else these infantile little bitches complained about when it comes to CM Punk.”
Taking Shots at the Past
CM Punk’s history with both Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre has been turbulent at best. Since his return, there’s been a visible line drawn between Punk and the current locker room — especially stars who rose through the ranks during his absence.
Seth Rollins has made multiple digs at Punk during promos and interviews, calling him “toxic” and suggesting he doesn’t belong in the modern WWE environment. Meanwhile, Drew McIntyre hasn’t shied away from expressing real-life frustrations over how Punk conducts himself backstage.
Punk’s remarks weren’t just off-hand jabs — they were direct, calculated, and clearly meant to bury any claims made by his former rivals. He painted Rollins and McIntyre as insecure stars obsessed with long-past locker room drama.
Punk vs GUNTHER: No Drama, Just Business
What makes this upcoming SummerSlam showdown so intriguing is the complete lack of personal animosity between Punk and GUNTHER. Unlike the emotional feuds Punk has been a part of in the past, this is shaping up to be a true clash of in-ring philosophies and legacies.
CM Punk even likened it to the “Summer of Punk” — his groundbreaking 2005 and 2011 runs that redefined modern wrestling storytelling.
“Tomorrow night, CM Punk vs. GUNTHER is about competition,” Punk said.
“It reminds me of the Summer of Punk — 2005 and 2011.”
For Punk, it’s a return to form. For fans, it’s a battle between two master storytellers. And for the WWE Universe, it might be the match of the year.
Final Thoughts
With Rollins and McIntyre still very much in the title picture, don’t be surprised if this promo ignites future feuds heading into the fall. For now, though, CM Punk is laser-focused on GUNTHER — and if his words are any indication, he’s bringing the full force of the old Punk with him.
Do you agree with Punk’s comments? Should Rollins and McIntyre let go of the past? Or do you think Punk is stoking fires he’ll regret?
