Natalya Reveals She’s a Paul Heyman Girl—Behind the Scenes

After over two decades in WWE, Natalya is still adapting, evolving, and learning. And behind the scenes, she’s quietly aligned herself with one of the greatest minds in wrestling: Paul Heyman.

In a candid interview on Busted Open Radio, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion shared that although she’s never portrayed as a “Paul Heyman Girl” on TV, she very much considers herself one in reality.

“Listen, I might not be a Paul Heyman girl on TV, but a lot of our work gets done backstage… I try to pick his brain as much as I can because I think he’s very good at what he does.”

Natalya explained that Heyman’s influence has helped shape her understanding of what it takes to thrive in WWE—not just physically, but creatively and mentally.

“You’ve got to be as creative as you are athletic in the ring. And then, while you’re being athletic, you also have to think constantly: What’s your next move? What’s the thing that makes people want to spend their money to see you?”

One of Heyman’s most powerful lessons? Advocate for yourself, even when nobody else will.

“You have to be your biggest advocate… and I’ve learned so much from Paul about that.”

But perhaps the most admirable trait about Heyman, according to Natalya, is his equal treatment of talent, regardless of their status.

“He doesn’t care whether you’re at the top of the card or the bottom. If you ask Paul Heyman for advice, he’ll sit down, be honest, and give it to you. That’s priceless.”

While fans know Heyman best for his iconic roles managing The Bloodline and more recently, Seth Rollins’ faction, his backstage work continues to impact multiple generations of talent—Natalya included.

With nearly 25 years under her belt, Natalya’s willingness to grow and learn from someone like Paul Heyman proves why she’s not just a survivor—she’s a legend in motion.
