R-Truth’s WWE Departure Confirmed as Legit, Not a Work — Mark Henry Explains

R-Truth’s shocking WWE departure has sparked intense debate online, with fans questioning whether it’s all part of a storyline or a legitimate release. Now, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has weighed in, confirming that R-Truth’s exit is real and not a work.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Henry shared insights from his recent conversation with R-Truth, who personally confirmed that his WWE release is genuine.
“It got me ’cause I called him [R-Truth]. He’s like, ‘Well man, it’s true.’ And I said, ‘Damn.’ I said, ‘Don’t get the boo boo face. Life for you is gonna be fine.’”
Henry reflected on his own experience being released by WWE, noting how difficult it was to process without guidance. Determined to support others, he now makes a point of reaching out to friends in similar situations.
“You know, I had nobody to tell me, Dave, that when I got let go — ‘Hey man, alright, it’s no time for doom and gloom. It’s time to make this turn, make that turn.’ I didn’t have anyone to do that for me. So everybody that I know that goes through it, I call them and I say, ‘Hey, I got you. These are the steps, you do that, yada yada.’”
Henry revealed that R-Truth was taking time to figure out his next steps and wasn’t ready to publicly discuss the situation yet.
“I’m just sayin’, it seemed to me that it was a shoot — it was real, it was on the level — and that he was taking time to figure out what his next step was. And I asked him about coming on and talking about it, and he said, ‘I ain’t ready to talk about it. It’s not time yet, I need to digest it myself.’ And I respected that.”
When pressed by Bully Ray about whether R-Truth explained why WWE let him go, Henry said he did not.
“Did not,” Henry responded.
Reports indicate that R-Truth was informed over the weekend by WWE’s talent relations team that his contract would not be renewed—a decision that caught even R-Truth by surprise.
After an impressive 25-year run with WWE, R-Truth’s release marks the end of an era but likely not the end of his wrestling career. According to reports, TNA’s Head of Talent Relations has already reached out, hinting that R-Truth’s next move might be just around the corner.
Fans have flooded social media with reactions, with many sharing their disbelief and support. R-Truth’s legacy of entertaining fans with comedic segments, innovative moves, and memorable moments will not be forgotten, regardless of what’s next.
