Despite WWE Exit, Vince McMahon Still Enjoys Backstage Support Among Wrestlers

Vince McMahon Still Has Strong Support Among Wrestlers Despite WWE Exit and Industry Fallout

Vince McMahon might no longer hold power in WWE, but in the locker rooms he once ran, his influence is far from erased.

While social media rumors continue to swirl around the idea of McMahon trying to buy TNA Wrestling or re-enter the combat sports scene, a new report from Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso offers a far more grounded—and personal—perspective.

According to Barrasso, many pro wrestlers still deeply respect McMahon, despite the severe backlash and public fallout stemming from the Janel Grant lawsuit and his subsequent exit from WWE.

“Speaking with wrestlers off-the-record, there is a great deal of support for McMahon, as many note that McMahon is still held in high regard.”

The revelation is surprising, especially given WWE’s public distancing from McMahon and his diminished mainstream profile. Yet, the report emphasizes that for many who’ve worked closely with him, loyalty outweighs scandal.

🔍 What’s Vince Up To Now?

McMahon recently launched a new investment firm, 14TH & I, aimed at opportunities in sports, entertainment, and media. He also reportedly attempted to buy into Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship—further proving he’s not done with the combat world just yet.

However, Barrasso notes that insiders aren’t convinced McMahon’s new venture will produce scripted TV or film anytime soon:

“Those with inside knowledge are not sold on the idea that McMahon’s investment firm… is going to suddenly develop television shows or movies. That process generally takes years.”

While networks and corporate partners may be reluctant, wrestlers behind the scenes haven’t forgotten the man who helped shape their careers. Whether this respect leads to a new promotion, partnership, or complete reinvention remains to be seen.
